Test Engineer- Electronics hardware At Schneider Electric

Will be part of Schneider Electric’s Sustaining Engineering team. This position needs to be familiar with testing, basic technical knowledge of UPS systems & on 3 phase UPS systems. This includes knowledge & skills needed for the candidate to maintain, operate, trouble shoot, test/validate UPS functionalities & use SE 3-phase medium/high power UPS systems, Lab related tools & equipments etc.

This candidate will be based out of SE Bangalore, India office & will be responsible for the support to Product Design leads, Sr. test Engineer and Design Engineer to carry out the Design verification & validation tests. The person may also be called upon to help the projects in other regions WW and may need Local & International travel as and when relevant.

Scope & Size

Will be part of team reporting to Sustaining Engineering Manager & working specifically on Medium to High Power 3 Pahse UPS systems. Will be supporting Global teams.

Essential Functions

  • Work efficiently with different Cross Functional teams
  • Understand SE products through design, specification, applicable standards, configuration, application and operations
  • Develop knowledge in UPS communication tools to down load data, upgrade FW, etc.
  • Work closely with the factory teams & vendors for performing the testing on the product related parts/assemblies whenever needed.
  • Re-qualification of power electronic components identified through QVE approach.
  • Needs to support the Senior engineer with Test & Simulation on field conditions to reproduce the specific faults reported & to plan for lab facility enhancement with the necessary equipment’s/facility/tools
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis, Brainstorming solutions/suggestions, Validation and verification of solutions until implementation
  • Participate in continuing education program designed to update and renew knowledge on technology and engineering.
  • Contribute towards competency improvement.

Education – Minimum Required Level

Bachelor’s in Electrical/Power Electronics Engineering or equivalent

Experience – Minumum required

  • 2 – 4 years of experience in Electrical/Power Electronics Engineering (or) equivalent in critical power systems
  • Good Knowledge on Micro Soft Office applications, mail application systems, Micro soft Viso, Micro soft Project, (PCBA & electrical design tools, but not essential) & network related knowledge/skills etc.

Knowledge And Skills Required

  • Knowledge of PPE’s, Safety, ESD Hazards is mandatory.
  • Good knowledge in usage/functionality of lab related equipment/instruments like Oscilloscopes, function generators, LCR meters, thermal & power analysers, digital multi-meters etc., is mandatory.
  • Good knowledge in analog and digital electronics.
  • Good knowledge in safety standards, electrical codes, Symbols, earth systems etc., is mandatory.
  • Good understanding of trouble shooting, fault diagnosis,knowledge about different components, characteristics & their usage in UPS systems.
  • Basic knowledge about qualifying the critical components and their qualification requirements. The critical components include power components such as IGBT’s, Magnetics, Thyristors, AC/DC capacitors, FANs etc. is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge on power systems design for critical applications.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Written – ability to communicate in a clear & concise manner with internal & external customers.
  • Passionate team member, who can motivate individuals across different disciplines.
  • Able to work in cross cultural and cross functional global teams.

Travel

As & when required with in the city, with in India (or) abroad for the reasons of training, supporting on specific projects/assignments to support the global sustenance teams, site visits for the reasons of product (or) site related issues & resolution, field support etc. candidate must possess a valid passport.

Qualifications
