It contributes to a standby time for wireless earphones that is three times that of previous products while ensuring greater safety

Claiming to be the world’s lowest current consumption battery IC during operation of 990nA max. is the new S-82M1A/S-82N1A/S-82N1B Series of 1-cell lithium-ion battery protection ICs by ABLIC Inc. Suitable for lithium-ion rechargeable battery packs and lithium polymer rechargeable battery packs, applications include wireless earphones, smartwatches, hearing aids, activity trackers, headsets and eyeglass devices, etc.

It includes the following features:

  • Accurate overcharge detection voltage as high as ±15mV while consuming low current during operation of 990nA max.
  • Highly accurate overcurrent protection that is not easily susceptible to temperature fluctuations (the S-82M1A series)
  • Charge-discharge control functions (S-82N1A series)
  • Power saving function that disables battery discharge during power-saving operation and also lowers current consumption of the protection IC down to 50nA, minimising battery consumption to virtually zero (S-82N1B Series)

These features increase standby time by about 3x compared to its predecessors. By helping to prevent deep discharge, the new products significantly contribute to improving product safety.
