Wide Input Power Modules for Embedded Systems

Two DC/DC converters support wide input range, isolation, and protection features for industrial systems, providing regulated output in space-limited designs.

RECOM has launched two new 6W regulated DC/DC converter series, REC6K-AW and REC6K-RW, aimed at industrial and embedded power applications that require compact design, wide input tolerance, and isolation flexibility.

These converters are designed for design engineers working in industrial automation, railway systems, energy infrastructure, test equipment, and industrial machinery. They are typically used in distributed power systems where a single DC source must be converted into multiple regulated voltage rails for control units, sensors, communication interfaces, and embedded electronics.

Both series accept a wide 4:1 input range of 9–36VDC and 18–75VDC, making them suitable for systems with unstable or varying supply conditions. They provide regulated isolated outputs in single configurations from 3.3V to 24V and dual outputs of ±5V, ±12V, and ±15V. With up to 6W output power and 1.5A current capability, the modules are used to power low-power subsystems without requiring a minimum load.

The REC6K-AW series comes in a compact 1” x 1” package, suited for high-density PCB layouts where board space is limited. The REC6K-RW series uses a DIP24 through-hole package, chosen for designs that prefer traditional mounting and higher isolation performance.

Protection features include short-circuit protection with automatic recovery, overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, and undervoltage lockout. These help maintain system stability in fault conditions without external circuitry.

Isolation levels differ across the two series: 1500VDC for REC6K-AW and 4000VDC for REC6K-RW, supporting different safety and system separation requirements.

The converters operate across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +100°C, extending to +105°C with derating, and support case temperatures up to +125°C for harsh environments.

REC6K-AW also includes output voltage trim and ON/OFF control on selected models, while REC6K-RW offers optional control variants via /P suffix versions.

Both series are backed by a three-year warranty and are available through RECOM and authorized distributors.
