Amphenol RF has added a new SMA right-angle PCB jack to its wide range of SMA connectors. Designed to operate up to 18 GHz, this connector is ideal for broadband and high-speed data systems. Its custom enlarged footprint and low-profile design help distribute mechanical stress, improving solder joint reliability and maintaining vertical clearance in tightly packed assemblies. The tailored land pattern reduces impedance disruptions and simplifies trace routing for enhanced RF performance. A threaded coupling system, compliant with MIL-STD-348, ensures a secure and compatible connection with standard SMA plugs.

The jack’s body is made from gold-plated brass, with a contact pin of gold-plated beryllium copper and a PTFE insulator that provides strong dielectric performance. These materials support a wide operating temperature range of –65 °C to +165 °C, making it suitable for use in demanding environments.

Some of the key features of jack include:

  • Works up to 18 GHz, good for fast data and broadband
  • Special shape spreads stress, making solder joints stronger
  • Low height saves space in tight PCB designs
  • Custom layout helps reduce signal loss and makes routing easier
  • Screw-type connection fits with standard SMA plugs securely
  • Made with gold-plated metals for strength and good signal flow
  • PTFE inside keeps electrical signals safe and stable
  • Can handle temperatures from –65 °C to +165 °C
  • Works well in tough conditions
  • Ready to use in IoT, defense, aerospace, and test devices

This SMA right-angle PCB jack is available off the shelf and fits a range of advanced uses, including IoT devices, aerospace and defense systems, and test equipment.
