Efficient Power Conversion Electronics (EPC) has unveiled the EPC91121, a 3-phase BLDC motor drive inverter evaluation board built around the EPC2366 eGaN FET. The board is designed to help engineers rapidly prototype and optimize motor applications that traditionally required multiple discrete components. By integrating advanced GaN technology with a complete set of motor drive circuitry, the board delivers a streamlined environment for motor control evaluation.

System designers can benefit from low-distortion switching that reduces motor audio emissions and minimizes torque ripple, while dv/dt optimization below 10 V/ns ensures smooth, reliable operation. The board provides a comprehensive motor drive environment, including gate drivers, regulated auxiliary power rails, accurate current, voltage, and temperature sensing, under-voltage lockout, and protection circuits. This integration accelerates design cycles, simplifies evaluation, and allows compatibility with controllers from multiple manufacturers.

Beyond efficiency and integration, the board offers a versatile set of features: a 3-phase inverter based on EPC2366 GaN FET, support for DC input from 18–30 V, peak currents up to 70 Apk (50 ARMS), PWM switching frequencies up to 150 kHz, compact dimensions of 79 mm × 80 mm, a shaft encoder/Hall sensor interface with dual voltage selection, and comprehensive sensing and protection circuits. Together, these make it a powerful platform for motor drive experimentation and innovation.

“The EPC91121 gives engineers the freedom to explore high-current, high-speed motor designs with unprecedented simplicity,” said Alex Lidow, CEO of Efficient Power Conversion. “By combining cutting-edge GaN devices with fully integrated support circuitry, we are enabling faster development and higher performance across a wide range of motor drive applications.”
