AI Coding Suite Simplifies Communications

A new developer toolkit integrates AI coding assistants with communication APIs, enabling in-editor application development, simulation, testing, and deployment while reducing dependence on documentation and external web portals.

Sinch has introduced Agent Tools, a new developer toolkit that integrates AI-assisted coding environments with the company’s communications platform. Designed to streamline application development, the suite enables developers to build, test and deploy communication-enabled applications directly from their preferred coding environments while reducing the need to switch between documentation, portals and development tools.

The toolkit supports popular integrated development environments (IDEs), including Visual Studio Code, JetBrains IDEs and other Open VSX-compatible editors. It also integrates with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT Desktop, allowing developers to access platform resources and implementation guidance without leaving their coding workspace.

The key features are:

  • Available globally for developers
  • Includes Open VSX-compatible editor extensions
  • Supports command-line and automation workflows
  • Covers Mailgun and Fax APIs
  • Designed for enterprise communication application development

A key feature is Simulator Mode, which enables developers to test application integrations before creating a Sinch account or making live API calls. By simulating platform behaviour within the development environment, developers can validate workflows and experiment with communication services during the early stages of software development, reducing setup time and accelerating prototyping.

The AI integration is powered by an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, which provides AI coding assistants with direct access to live Sinch API definitions. Complementing this is Sinch Skills, a structured knowledge layer that supplies implementation guidance, configuration details and recommended integration patterns. Together, these capabilities help AI assistants generate more accurate code suggestions while reducing errors caused by outdated or incomplete documentation.

Agent Tools provides structured access to several Sinch communication services, including the Conversation API, Authentication, Voice, Verification, Numbers and Elastic SIP Trunking APIs. Developers can use the toolkit to integrate messaging, identity verification, voice communications and other customer engagement capabilities into enterprise applications through a unified development workflow.

The toolkit targets software developers building customer communication platforms, contact centre solutions, authentication systems, conversational AI applications and cloud-native enterprise software. By embedding communication APIs and AI-assisted development directly into coding environments, Agent Tools aims to simplify integration, shorten development cycles and improve productivity for teams developing modern communication-enabled applications.
