Frequency modulation (FM) broadcasting is used in many applications for public announcements, FM radio stations, or local walkie-talkie networks for internal communication. In this project, we will design an FM broadcasting system that can be used as an FM in-house messaging service or an announcement system for a city, office, school, factory, or other premises. It can also be combined with an FM receiver to create an FM walkie-talkie system for short-range internal communication. The best part is that it is a digital FM transmitter system, so unlike a fully analogue FM transmitter circuit, it is less noisy, and the transmission frequency is highly accurate compared with an analogue circuit design. The digital control also makes it easier to set and change the transmission frequency as required.
The system can be used for in-house announcements, event announcements, educational institutions, factory communication, office communication, emergency or security announcements, museum and exhibition audio systems, guided-tour systems, campus communication, and other short-range audio broadcasting applications.
For this project, we will use the KT0803K FM Module to create the FM broadcasting system. The module provides digitally controlled FM transmission, allowing us to set the required FM frequency and transmit the audio signal through a connected FM receiver.

Circuit

In the circuit, an OLED display and the KT0803K FM broadcaster module are used. The KT0803K works on the I2C port and receives the signals to set the broadcasting frequency and execute the start/stop commands. The OLED also shares the same I2C port, with the same wiring and pins on the ESP32-S2.
