A development board offers quad-core processing, AI, camera and display support, and expansion options for embedded and edge devices.

Boardcon Embedded Design have announced the SBC3566 development board, based on the Rockchip RK3566 processor. It features a quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A55 CPU running at up to 1.8 GHz and an integrated NPU providing 1 TOPS of AI computing performance. Support for AI frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch enables lightweight edge AI inference while keeping power consumption low.
The board uses a modular architecture with the MINI3566 core board and a carrier board. The core board is available with 2GB or 4GB of DDR3L RAM and 8GB to 128GB of eMMC storage. Its B2B connectors expose USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe 2.1/SATA, HDMI 4K, eDP, LVDS, MIPI DSI, I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIO, allowing developers to create application-specific carrier boards.
The SBC3566 measures 120 × 90 mm and includes RS485, four USB 2.0 Host ports, USB 3.0 Host, USB 2.0 OTG, dual MIPI CSI camera connectors, an M.2 slot, audio I/O, ADC, a debug interface, and a Micro SD card slot. It supports LVDS, MIPI DSI, HDMI, and eDP for display connectivity.
The platform is aimed at embedded developers, product engineers, system integrators, and researchers building edge-computing and IoT products. It can be used to prototype smart cameras, machine-vision systems, industrial monitoring equipment, human-machine interfaces, and other devices requiring local processing. The camera interfaces and NPU can be used for image and video processing, while the communication and expansion interfaces support connections to sensors, industrial equipment, storage, displays, and wireless modules.
For custom product development, engineers can integrate the MINI3566 into their own hardware and design a carrier board around the required interfaces and peripherals. The SBC3566 supports Debian 12 and Buildroot and can be paired with 4G, Wi-Fi, camera modules, and a 10.1-inch LCD for application development and testing.
