The SM15KPA-HR/HRA and SM30KPA-HR/HRA series are designed for applications that operate in demanding environments and require consistent performance under electrical stress. These include avionics flight computers and controllers, navigation, communication and radar electronics, eVTOL propulsion and battery management systems, defense and aerospace power distribution modules, and industrial and transportation platforms where lightning surge immunity is required.

The devices offer peak pulse power dissipation of 15 kW and 30 kW based on a 10/1000 μs waveform. They are developed to meet RTCA/DO-160 Waveform 5A Level 5 requirements, which are used for testing lightning protection in avionics systems. In addition to high surge capability, the diodes provide a response time of less than 1 ps, controlled clamping performance, and low incremental surge resistance. These characteristics help limit voltage spikes and maintain circuit stability during transient events.

The series is available in an SPD4-1 surface-mount package, supporting standard SMT pick-and-place assembly. This allows easier integration into modern electronic designs compared to older axial leaded components, while maintaining high power handling capability. The devices operate across a junction temperature range of –55 °C to 150 °C, supporting use in both low and high temperature conditions.

To ensure performance and reliability, the series undergoes extensive screening. This includes 100% surge testing, high-temperature storage, temperature cycling, X-ray inspection, high temperature reverse bias (HTRB) testing, and final electrical characterization in line with MIL-STD-750.

By combining high peak pulse capability, compliance with avionics standards, and detailed screening processes, the series is intended for systems where protection, reliability, and consistent operation are required.
