Infineon’s 600V 15A IPM for 3-Phase Inverters

CIPOS Tiny IM323-L6G from Infineon Technologies is a new addition to its CIPOS Tiny Intelligent Power Module (IPM) series. The IPM is rated for 600V 15A and is based on the TRENCHSTOP IGNT RC-D2 switches and the advanced SOI gate drivers. The IM323-L6G offers high efficiency and better reliability even with lower size and cost. The IPM offers protection from short circuits, over-current, and under-voltage.

The IPM module is optimized for 3-phase inverters with an operating range of 1 to 20kHz. The CIPOS Tiny IM323-L6G is rated for 600 V 15 A and works on TRENCHSTOP™ IGBT RC-D2 switches which according to the company is a state-of-the-art SOI gate driver technology. Integration of drivers and discrete power semiconductors in a single package simplifies product designing, thus, reducing development time and cost during the R&D phase and shortening the time-to-market.

According to the company, the module features a C5SOI gate driver technology for negative voltage spikes at the motor outputs, it also safeguards from short-circuits of at least 3 µs and delivers a high level of protection and fail-safe operation. The IPM provides cross-conduction prevention and turn-off of all switches during overcurrent and under-voltage conditions. It uses a monolithically integrated diode with a maximum junction temperature of 175 ºC for the switch.

The IM323-L6G comes in a 33 x 19 mm2 DIP package with built-in NTC which allows high flexibility of the mechanical system design. To achieve better performance, the module employs the latest switching and gate driver technology. And for improved safety and reliability offers full in-house production for the front-end and the back-end provides supply security. The module is suitable for household appliances such as drives for room air conditioners.

The 15A rated IM323 is available for orders now and the company has planned to launch the CIPOS Tiny IM323 product range with 6 A and 10 A by the end of 2022.
