A laser sensor measures up to 150 m, works in bright light and on dark surfaces, and helps measure distance, position, and moving objects.

Micro-Epsilon has introduced the optoNCDT ILR1041-150-IO, a compact laser distance sensor designed to measure distances of up to 150 m. Using the time-of-flight measurement method, the sensor delivers reliable distance readings even on dark surfaces, changing materials, and in bright ambient light. It is designed for applications in industrial automation, logistics, construction machinery, and renewable energy systems.
The sensor can be used by automation engineers, machine builders, system integrators, warehouse operators, and construction equipment manufacturers to measure the position and distance of moving or stationary objects. It can support tasks such as crane positioning, vehicle guidance, material handling, warehouse automation, collision avoidance, level monitoring, and distance measurement in outdoor industrial environments.
The sensor measures distances from 0.2 m to 150 m when used with reflector film. It remains stable in ambient light levels of up to 50,000 lx, as the measurement method is largely unaffected by stray light. An adjustable measuring rate of up to 333 Hz allows fast response times for moving objects and dynamic processes.
The ILR1041-150-IO provides 1 mm resolution, ±20 mm linearity, and repeatability of less than 6 mm, helping maintain accurate measurements over long distances. It uses a Class 1 laser, so no additional eye protection is needed during normal operation.
For industrial communication, the sensor includes an IO-Link interface for standardized, fieldbus-independent data exchange. It also offers an analog output that can be configured for current or voltage, making it easier to integrate into existing systems.
The sensor has a compact housing with IP67, IP69, and IP69K protection ratings for use in demanding environments. A rotatable cable outlet simplifies installation in limited spaces. Users can configure the sensor directly through onboard buttons and RGB LEDs or by using software.
By combining long-range measurement, stable performance, industrial communication support, and flexible installation, the optoNCDT ILR1041-150-IO is designed for applications where accurate distance measurement is required over long ranges in industrial environments.
