As vehicles become more software-defined and data-intensive, automotive Ethernet is evolving to support higher bandwidth, improved reliability, and scalable network architectures. This shift is making receiver (Rx) testing a critical requirement to ensure the reliability and safety of next-generation automotive platforms.

To address these needs, Keysight is showcasing two solutions. The 10BASE-T1S Receiver Test Solution is designed for emerging multi-drop Ethernet architectures used in zonal and edge-controller applications. The company is also presenting its nGBASE-AU optical automotive Ethernet test solution, built to handle higher bandwidth, improved EMI resilience, and longer-reach communication inside vehicles.

The 10BASE-T1S Receiver Test Solution, developed with BitifEye Digital Test Solutions GmbH, provides automated receiver compliance test software that performs PHY validation based on Open Alliance TC14 PMA Test Suite 5.2.1. It supports receiver BER verification under impaired channel and coupled-noise conditions using a 10BASE-T1S media converter, ringing board, and MDI adapters. It also enables multi-drop network testing to validate scalable zonal architectures.

Some of the key features of the nGBASE-AU optical physical-layer testbed include:

  • Supports compliance with IEEE 802.3cz Amendment 7 (2023) and Open Alliance TC7 specs
  • Includes TDFOM measurements: OMA, ER, AOP, and OAR for signal checks
  • Works with oscilloscopes like Keysight DCA-M N1092A and N1092C
  • Uses Keysight N1077B for clock recovery
  • Provides test automation through FlexDCA for compliance and development testing

Thomas Goetzl, Vice President and General Manager of Keysight’s Automotive & Energy Solutions, said: “As vehicle architectures become more software-driven and data‑intensive, the need for resilient, high‑speed Ethernet communication is more critical than ever. The launch of the 10BASE‑T1S receiver test portfolio and Keysight nGBASE‑AU optical solution equips the automotive industry with the tools needed to accelerate innovation and ensure robust, standards‑compliant performance.”
