The transformer has been developed to meet the growing demand for high-efficiency, compact solutions in electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid systems, and energy storage designs. Its standout feature is its ability to provide high isolation with 10mm creepage and clearance, meeting stringent IEC standards. “The HVMA03F40C-ST10S offers up to 900V working voltage, ensuring superior isolation across varied voltage systems,” a statement noted.

Engineered to operate efficiently across a wide frequency range of 100kHz to 400kHz, the flyback transformer supports novel silicon carbide (SiC), gallium nitride (GaN), and IGBT switching technologies. These features make it ideal for high-frequency applications, boosting performance in wide bandgap designs and battery management systems.

Targeting professionals in the automotive, industrial, and energy storage sectors, this transformer offers substantial benefits for designers and engineers working with electric vehicle systems, high-voltage battery management, and isolated power configurations. With its robust performance capabilities, it suits those working in both established platforms and new design projects.

Compactness does not compromise its robustness, as the transformer supports operations in extreme temperatures, from -40°C to +155°C. Its 3W power capacity and surface-mountable design offer flexibility for integrating into existing platforms or designing new systems.

“The mechanical and electrical design enhances safety and reliability,” the announcement emphasised, positioning the transformer as a superior choice for power isolation and efficiency improvements in EVs and industrial setups.

With proven expertise in magnetic architecture and high-performance materials, the new addition to Bourns’ product line reflects the company’s commitment to supporting innovation in energy and automotive industries. This technology marks a significant step forward in addressing the challenges of miniaturisation without compromising safety or performance.

By advancing compact solutions like the flyback transformer, the industry edges closer to meeting the rigorous demands of next-generation automotive and industrial power systems.
