TDK Corporation has introduced two new NTC thermistor series: the L862 (B57862L) with bendable wires and the L871 (B57871L) with fixed lead spacing. These thermistors are designed for a wide range of automotive and industrial applications. Both series are Pb-free and operate within a temperature range of -40 °C to +155 °C, with tolerances of ±1% for the L862 and ±3% for the L871.

At room temperature, their maximum power dissipation is 60 mW. They are available in various rated resistances from 1 kΩ to 100 kΩ, with different R/T characteristics. After 10,000 hours at +70 °C, the resistance deviation at room temperature remains within 3%.

The company claims that the NTC thermistor series is suitable for automotive and industrial manufacturers, battery system designers, energy storage companies, drone manufacturers, and engineers developing temperature-sensitive applications.

The L862 sensor element, coated with black epoxy, measures 2.6 x 6.5 mm (D x H) and features insulated silver-plated nickel leads. The total wire length is 50 mm, with 6 mm stripped. It has a dissipation factor of 1.4 mW/K and a thermal cooling time constant of 14 seconds.

The main features and benefits of the NTC thermistor series include the following:

  • Short response time
  • High measuring accuracy
  • Different tolerances available

The L871 sensor element is epoxy-coated and measures 2.8 x 6.0 mm (D x H). It has Cu-clad steel wires with a 2.5 mm lead spacing. Its dissipation factor is 3 mW/K, and its thermal cooling time constant is 9 seconds.
