Compact Solid State Relay IC

Featuring an integrated chime bypass, fault protection, and high-performance switching in a space-saving design, it offers a plug-and-play solution for IoT security, automation, and building control applications.

Compact Solid State Relay IC

Littelfuse has launched the CPC2501M, a compact solid-state relay IC designed specifically for video doorbell systems, addressing the complex challenge of integrating modern devices with legacy home wiring and mechanical chimes. With an embedded chime bypass function, it enables seamless installation of video doorbells without the need for added components or major rewiring—making it a game-changer for IoT-based home and building automation.

The key features are:

  • Integrated self-actuating control circuitry (no external MCU needed
  • Built-in fault protection timer (~17 seconds reset)
  • 60 VP bidirectional, normally closed solid-state relay switch
  • Supports 1.84 ARMS continuous load current, 5 A peak
  • Compact, thermally optimized 6×6 mm QFN-16 package

It has integrated self-actuating logic, which eliminates the need for an external microcontroller or software control. Housed in a thermally efficient 6×6 mm QFN-16 package, the device also includes built-in fault protection with a 17-second reset timer, ensuring robust performance under prolonged button presses or chime malfunctions. Its high-performance switching supports 60 VP bidirectional voltage and 1.84 ARMS continuous load current, with a peak handling capacity of 5 A—ideal for startup and surge conditions.

It addresses a growing problem in smart home integration. As more homeowners adopt video doorbells, power compatibility with existing chime circuits often becomes a barrier. This IC smartly bypasses the chime when idle and re-engages it during doorbell activation, maintaining uninterrupted power to the video unit without sacrificing chime functionality. It is installable behind standard 8–24 VAC doorbell transformers, further simplifying integration into conventional infrastructure.

While optimized for video doorbell systems, it also lends itself to broader applications including security systems, IoT devices, and general-purpose voltage-controlled relay operations. Its all-in-one design enhances reliability and saves PCB space—critical in compact modules used across industrial and consumer sectors.
