AI-Ready SBC To Fast-Track Embedded Product Development

It offers a production-ready single-board computer built around MediaTek’s Genio processors—bringing AI, security, and rapid prototyping to embedded developers under tight timelines.

Poland-based embedded design firm Grinn has introduced the GenioBoard, a compact single-board computer (SBC) built to help developers accelerate the launch of AI-ready embedded systems. Measuring just 87 × 56 mm, it combines computing, graphics, and connectivity in a ready-for-production design, eliminating the need for lengthy hardware prototyping cycles.

At its core, the SBC integrates the company’s GenioSOM-700 or GenioSOM-510 modules, both powered by MediaTek’s Genio applications processors. These systems feature multiple Arm Cortex-A cores, a GPU, and a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI and machine learning workloads—allowing OEMs to build intelligent devices with real-time inferencing and edge analytics.

The board arrives as manufacturers face mounting pressure to shorten development cycles from years to months. Rather than spending valuable time building computer hardware and Linux environments from scratch, developers can use the GenioBoard as an application-ready platform. It supports both custom Yocto-based Linux and Debian distributions, letting teams start software integration on Day One.

To address growing cybersecurity demands, the board incorporates the Thistle Security Platform, built around an Infineon OPTIGA Trust M hardware module. This ensures compliance with the EU Cybersecurity Resilience Act (CRA)—a key consideration for embedded products entering the European market.

Unlike hobbyist-oriented SBCs, board’s  design targets industrial and OEM deployment. It comes with CE certification, a robust component supply chain, and production-grade reliability. The hardware also provides flexibility for AI expansion through M.2 interfaces for accelerators or wireless modules, enabling future upgrades without redesign. Developers gain additional freedom through open schematics and CAD files, making the GenioBoard a customizable reference platform. Key interfaces include HDMI, DisplayPort, dual CSI cameras, USB 3.0/2.0 ports, Ethernet, and Raspberry Pi HAT compatibility, all powered via a single USB-C connector.
