An advancement in power design is making laptop chargers smaller, cooler, and more efficient—ushering in a new era of compact, high-output adapters built for today’s performance-driven devices.

Power efficiency meets portability as ROHM’s EcoGaN power stage IC makes its debut inside MSI’s latest high-performance laptop adapters, designed by Delta Electronics. The collaboration marks a leap in next-gen power management—combining Delta’s design expertise with the company’s gallium nitride (GaN) innovation to deliver smaller, lighter, and more energy-efficient AC adapters without compromising power output.
The new adapters, integrating the company’s BM3G005MUV-LB EcoGaN power stage IC, achieve significant miniaturization and higher efficiency compared to traditional silicon-based designs. Built for gaming systems that demand sustained high power under load, these adapters can maintain peak output over longer periods—crucial for laptops running graphics-intensive workloads.
The key features are:
- Integrates 650V GaN HEMT, gate driver, and protection circuit in a single compact package.
- Enables faster switching and lower ON resistance for superior efficiency.
- Unlocks full GaN performance by directly replacing traditional MOSFETs.
- Delivers less heat generation and fewer external components.
- Results in a smaller, lighter power design ideal for high-performance devices.
As gaming laptops evolve with increasingly powerful CPUs and GPUs, the demand for portable yet high-wattage power sources has skyrocketed. GaN-based designs are now emerging as the go-to solution—offering faster charging, improved thermal management, and greener power conversion.
Delta Electronics’ General Manager for Edge Computing Power, Red Lin, credits the synergy between Delta’s advanced power solutions and GaN expertise for achieving “high power delivery, optimal efficiency, and miniaturization.” ROHM’s Satoru Nate adds that this milestone showcases how the two companies’ long-standing partnership continues to push boundaries in power innovation—paving the way for future applications in servers, industrial systems, and electric vehicles. The brand represents its mission to combine sustainability and performance by leveraging GaN’s natural efficiency to reduce energy waste and component size. With MSI now on board, the collaboration signals a broader shift toward compact, eco-conscious power solutions across the tech ecosystem.
