A connector helps keep wireless connections working in dusty and wet places, making it useful for outdoor communication and GPS equipment.

Amphenol RF has expanded its portfolio of RF interconnect solutions with a new IP67 RP-SMA rear-mount straight bulkhead jack connector designed for RG-174 cable assemblies. The connector is intended for wireless systems that require protection against dust and water while maintaining reliable RF connectivity in outdoor and industrial environments.
The product can be used by RF engineers, telecom equipment manufacturers, system integrators, IoT developers, and OEMs building wireless communication systems. It enables secure connections between antennas, wireless modules, GNSS/GPS receivers, routers, gateways, and other RF equipment deployed in challenging operating conditions. By helping protect connection points from environmental exposure, the connector supports reliable communication in applications such as wireless telecom infrastructure, smart agriculture systems, asset tracking devices, positioning equipment, industrial IoT platforms, and remote monitoring installations.
Designed for long-term field deployment, the connector meets IP67 requirements in the unmated condition, helping prevent dust and water ingress that could affect system performance. This makes it suitable for equipment installed outdoors or in industrial locations where environmental protection is important.
To improve durability, the connector incorporates adhesive-lined heat-shrink tubing that enhances cable sealing and protection. It features a nickel-plated brass body for mechanical strength and includes a “D” flat design that simplifies installation. Mounting hardware is supplied with the connector, and it supports panel thicknesses of up to 2.5 mm.
The connector is rated for 500 mating cycles and operates across a temperature range from -65°C to +165°C. These specifications allow designers to integrate it into systems exposed to temperature fluctuations and repeated connection cycles.
With this launch, the company claims to address the needs of wireless system developers seeking environmentally protected RF interconnect solutions for outdoor, industrial, and infrastructure applications.
