Elegoo has introduced the H1 HT Filament Dryer, a new accessory designed to improve 3D printing reliability by reducing moisture in filament before use. The device addresses concerns raised by exposed filament spools used with the company’s Centauri Carbon 2 printer, while also supporting a broad range of printing materials through high-temperature drying.

Moisture is a common problem in 3D printing because many filament types absorb water from the surrounding air. Even small amounts of absorbed moisture can reduce print quality, causing inconsistent extrusion, poor surface finish and weaker printed parts. Keeping filament dry is particularly important for engineering-grade materials that are more sensitive to humidity.

The H1 HT Filament Dryer accepts a single filament spool and can heat it to temperatures of up to 85°C, making it suitable for most commonly used materials. It also rotates the spool during the drying process to promote even heat distribution, while an automatic moisture vent helps remove humid air from inside the enclosure. A 3.5-inch touchscreen provides access to drying presets and operating information for quick configuration.

The dryer also includes a bypass outlet that allows materials such as TPU and glass fibre or carbon fibre-reinforced thermoplastics to feed directly into a compatible printer while drying continues. This enables users to maintain filament quality throughout long printing sessions without interrupting the process.

According to the manufacturer, the H1 HT is priced at 70 US dollars, positioning it as an affordable option for hobbyists and professionals seeking more reliable prints. However, because the unit dries only one spool at a time, users with multi-material printing systems may need multiple dryers to keep all filaments conditioned simultaneously. Even so, the combination of high-temperature capability, rotating drying and straightforward controls makes the new accessory a practical solution for improving print consistency and reducing moisture-related defects.
