Kioxia Introduces First PCIe 6.0 Enterprise SSDs Utilizing Newest BiCS FLASH Generation 10 Flash Memory

Kioxia has introduced the KIOXIA CM10 Series, its first PCIe 6.0 enterprise SSD series, using the company’s latest BiCS FLASH generation 10 TLC NAND. The SSDs are designed for enterprise applications and AI workloads such as AI inference and context caching.

The CM10 Series supports the NVIDIA CMX architecture, which uses fast flash storage as part of the memory hierarchy to handle growing AI model and context requirements. As AI models reach trillions of parameters and context windows expand to millions of tokens, faster storage is becoming important for moving and caching data.

Compared with the previous generation, the new SSDs provide up to 92% higher sequential read performance and up to 85% higher random read performance. The drives also support direct cold-plate liquid cooling, giving data centre operators another option for cooling high-performance AI systems.

  • Supports PCIe 6.0, NVMe 2.1, and OCP Datacenter NVMe SSD Specification v2.7.
  • Supports NVMe Flexible Data Placement (FDP).
  • Available in E3.S, E1.S, and 2.5-inch form factors.
  • Offers capacities from 1.60 TB to 61.44 TB, depending on the form factor.
  • Available with 1 DWPD read-intensive and 3 DWPD mixed-use endurance options.
  • Uses 332-layer BiCS FLASH generation 10 TLC memory.
  • Provides up to 92% higher sequential read performance and up to 85% higher random read performance than the previous generation.
  • Supports direct cold-plate liquid cooling on selected E3.S and E1.S versions.
  • Security features include SIE, SED, planned SED FIPS 140-3, CNSA 2.0-recommended post-quantum cryptography, and SPDM 1.4 attestation support.
