A new 1 W isolated DC-DC converter series combines high-voltage isolation, reinforced insulation, and dual safety certification for medical, industrial, and harsh-environment electronics.
Engineers designing compact medical and industrial equipment can now use a single isolated power solution across applications with different safety requirements. The Bel PTM1-S Series by Bel Fuse Inc. of 1 W isolated DC-DC converters combines 6000 VDC isolation, reinforced insulation, and dual medical and information technology equipment (ITE) certification in a compact SIP-7 package.
The series is designed for applications where electrical isolation is essential, including medical instrumentation, industrial control equipment, and electronics operating in harsh environments. Its reinforced insulation is rated for operation up to 300 VAC, helping protect circuits against voltage surges and faults between electrical domains.

A key advantage of the PTM1-S Series is its ability to support both medical and ITE designs with one component family. The converters meet UL/IEC 62368 requirements for information technology equipment while also complying with EN 60601 medical safety requirements and 2xMOOP protection levels. This flexibility can simplify component selection and qualification for manufacturers developing products across multiple equipment categories.
The converters are also built for demanding operating conditions. They support continuous operation across a -40°C to +100°C temperature range, making them suitable for industrial installations and outdoor equipment where temperature conditions can vary significantly.
The initial PTM1-S portfolio uses a 1:1 input-to-output voltage ratio and includes 5 VDC, 12 VDC, 15 VDC and 24 VDC input options, with 5 VDC and 12 VDC single-output versions. These voltage combinations target commonly used power rails in medical electronics and industrial control platforms.
By combining high isolation capability with a compact encapsulated package, the PTM1-S Series addresses the growing need for space-efficient power conversion in electrically sensitive systems. Designers can use the family to isolate power domains while meeting stringent safety requirements without adding separate solutions for medical and industrial equipment.
