New customizable devices combine compact construction, high-temperature operation, and strong noise suppression for automotive, energy, and industrial electronics.

High-current electronic systems operating in demanding automotive and industrial environments require effective noise suppression without adding excessive board space or compromising reliability. Vishay Intertechnology has introduced two low-profile common mode chokes designed to address these requirements: the commercial-grade Vishay Dale ICMS2321-10 and automotive-grade ICMS2321-1A.
The new devices combine compact, low-profile construction with heat-rated currents of up to 30 A and operating temperatures reaching +150 °C. Their reduced height and rugged, self-shielded construction help improve resistance to shock and vibration, making them suitable for applications exposed to mechanically demanding operating conditions.

Both common mode chokes are designed to suppress electromagnetic interference in high-current circuits. Target applications include DC/DC converters, high-voltage inverters, EMI filters, and high-current filters used in motor-control and other power electronic circuitry. The ICMS2321-1A, which is AEC-Q200 qualified, is particularly suited for automotive applications such as on-board chargers. The enhanced core design helps improve performance and saturation current at elevated temperatures. The devices also provide a dielectric withstand voltage of 1500 VDC between coils, supporting their use in higher-voltage power systems.
Design flexibility is another key feature of the ICMS2321 series. The devices are available with either surface-mount or through-hole mounting options, allowing engineers to select the package style that best fits their PCB layout and assembly requirements. Surface-mount versions are supplied in tape-and-reel packaging and support automated pick-and-place manufacturing. The ICMS2321-10 and ICMS2321-1A can also be customized for parameters including inductance, impedance, DC resistance, and current ratings. Depending on the configuration, the devices offer inductance values from 70 µH to 480 µH and common-mode impedance across frequencies up to 100 MHz.
By combining high-current capability, compact dimensions, and operation at temperatures up to +150 °C, the new common-mode chokes offer designers a flexible solution for reducing conducted noise in space-constrained and demanding power electronic systems. The commercial ICMS2321-10 and automotive-qualified ICMS2321-1A are available for samples and production quantities.
