BrainChild Electronics has introduced its new DR (Distributed Recording System), a wireless industrial monitoring platform designed to make data collection, recording, and traceability easier across complex manufacturing environments. The system combines distributed sensing, wireless connectivity, data logging, and centralised management to reduce wiring and simplify deployment.

The DR platform is built around two main devices: MeshGate and SensNode. SensNode edge devices can be positioned close to measurement points, reducing the need for extensive cabling. Each unit provides two analogue input channels for thermocouples, RTD sensors, voltage signals, current signals, and linear-output sensors.

For wireless communication, the system uses sub-1GHz Mesh technology, which provides extended range, signal penetration, and reliable communication in industrial environments. The network can automatically establish communication paths and select suitable routes. If a connection is interrupted, the system can buffer records and retransmit data when communication resumes, helping maintain continuity.

MeshGate acts as the central controller and provides an integrated web server, allowing operators to access real-time monitoring, configuration, historical records, and reporting through a standard browser. The system also supports OPC UA communication, email alarm notifications, user access control, and automatic network time synchronisation for easier integration with existing industrial systems.

The platform is designed for applications where continuous monitoring and traceability are important, including biotechnology manufacturing, healthcare environments, nutraceutical production, cold-chain storage, and laboratory operations. Built-in temperature and humidity sensing can also support environmental monitoring and long-term trend analysis.

With its combination of wireless deployment, distributed measurement, and centralized data management, the DR system aims to help manufacturers expand monitoring without major infrastructure changes. BrainChild also highlights its Bluetooth-enabled deployment tools and support for USB Type-C, touchscreen display output, USB connectivity, and PoE-enabled Ethernet on MeshGate.
