Edge Processors Expand Intelligent IoT

New processors combine AI, vision, connectivity and real-time computing to help developers build smarter consumer, commercial and industrial devices with reduced system complexity.

Qualcomm has introduced two new edge processors, the Dragonwing Q-2390 and Dragonwing IQ-2390, designed to bring AI-enabled computing, vision and connectivity to a wider range of connected devices. The platforms target consumer, commercial and industrial applications where cost, power consumption and system integration remain critical design considerations.

The Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-2390 processor is aimed at commercial, enterprise and consumer IoT products. Its key benefit is the integration of multiple functions—including application processing, on-device AI, camera and display capabilities, location services, connectivity, security and extensive I/O—into a single platform. This level of integration can help product developers reduce hardware complexity while building intelligent devices capable of processing information closer to where it is generated.

The Q-2390 is intended for applications ranging from retail systems and smart-home products to smart displays and enterprise edge equipment. By supporting local intelligence, the processor can enable devices to analyse data and respond without depending entirely on cloud-based processing, making it suitable for connected products operating under tight power, size and cost constraints.

The result is a compact platform designed for systems that must not only analyse data locally but also interact reliably with industrial equipment and infrastructure.
