From gaming keyboards to industrial systems, these MCUs are built to handle processing and device connections.

Artery Technology has added the AT32F406 and AT32F408 microcontrollers (MCUs) to its AT32 portfolio, with processing speeds of up to 216 MHz, up to 512 KB Flash, 192 KB SRAM, and communication interfaces. The devices are aimed at embedded systems that require real-time processing, data transfer, and peripheral connections.
The two MCUs are based on an Arm Cortex-M4F core and target applications including gaming keyboards, industrial automation, control systems, USB devices, IoT equipment, and consumer electronics. The AT32F408 also includes USB OTG HS for applications that require USB connectivity.
The Cortex-M4F core runs at up to 216 MHz and includes DSP instructions and a floating-point unit (FPU) for signal processing and real-time control tasks.
The devices offer up to 512 KB of Flash and 192 KB of SRAM. They also include 26 KB of Bootloader system memory, which can be configured for user programs or data storage. A 4 KB OTP memory is available for storing data and parameters that need to remain permanently programmed.
The QSPI interface can connect external Flash or RAM for additional memory. The sLib feature can protect selected program areas by creating a secure code execution region.
The series includes three 12-bit ADCs with sampling rates of up to 5.33 Msps, along with support for external expansion. For peripheral connectivity, the MCUs provide eight SPI, three I2C, six USART, and two UART interfaces. Multiple timers and GPIOs support control and data-transfer functions.
Most GPIOs support 5 V-tolerant inputs, allowing the MCUs to interface with sensors and peripheral devices operating at higher voltage levels without requiring additional interface components.
The AT32F406 and AT32F408 use the same core architecture and development environment, but differ in their USB capabilities. The AT32F406 is intended for embedded control applications, with its ADC resources and peripheral interfaces supporting industrial automation, IoT, and other control systems.
The AT32F408 adds USB OTG HS and a dedicated 4 KB FIFO buffer. It can provide USB High-Speed connectivity without an external USB High-Speed PHY. It can be used in gaming keyboards, game controllers, industrial data loggers, measurement equipment, medical electronics, and other USB-based systems.
