The new processors target mainstream desktops and gaming systems, bringing higher clock speeds, modern memory support, and flexible platform choices.

AMD has expanded its desktop processor portfolio with two 6-core, 12-thread CPUs aimed at users building or upgrading mainstream and gaming PCs. The AMD Ryzen 5 7500 targets the newer AM5 platform with Zen 4 architecture and integrated Radeon graphics, while the AMD Ryzen 5 5500F brings Zen 3-based processing to the established AM4 ecosystem. Both processors have a default TDP of 65W and support simultaneous multithreading to handle multiple workloads.

The AMD Ryzen 5 7500 carries the model identifier 100-100002264BOX in boxed form and is built using TSMC’s 5nm FinFET process for its CPU cores. It operates at a 3.7GHz base frequency and boosts up to 5GHz, with 6MB of L2 cache and 32MB of L3 cache. The processor uses the AM5 socket and supports DDR5 memory, providing a path to newer desktop platforms. Its integrated AMD Radeon graphics engine has two graphics cores running at up to 2.2GHz, allowing compatible systems to produce display output without requiring a discrete graphics card.

For users retaining an AM4-based system, the AMD Ryzen 5 5500F, with boxed product ID 100-100001905BOX, provides six Zen 3 CPU cores and 12 threads. Manufactured using a 7nm FinFET process, it operates at 3GHz and can reach 4.4GHz under boost. It includes 3MB of L2 cache and 16MB of L3 cache, while supporting DDR4 memory at speeds of up to 3200 MT/s. Unlike the Ryzen 5 7500, the 5500F requires a discrete graphics card.
The processors address different PC-building requirements. The Ryzen 5 7500 suits new gaming desktops, productivity systems, and general-purpose PCs where DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 connectivity, and integrated graphics are useful. The Ryzen 5 5500F is suited to budget gaming desktops and upgrades based on compatible AM4 motherboards, particularly systems paired with a dedicated GPU.
Both processors include AMD Wraith Stealth thermal solutions and support Windows 10/11 64-bit, Ubuntu, and RHEL operating systems. The Ryzen 5 7500 additionally supports technologies such as AMD EXPO memory overclocking and Precision Boost Overdrive, providing greater tuning flexibility for compatible systems.
