As an experienced Hardware Design Engineer at Sensata, you will be part of a cross-functional project team supporting the design, development, and validation of various products that support the electrification of automotive and Heavy Vehicle Off-Road (HVOR) vehicles. This opportunity includes working with a worldwide team of customers and engineers collaborating to achieve customer success, product excellence, and safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key contributor to the success of assigned projects through technical innovation and execution of assigned electronic/electrical design work.
  • Lead and participate in requirements definition for key products/customers with an understanding of products as a system. This includes the derivation of system-level requirements to key electronic/electrical performance criteria.
  • Responsible for assigned engineering tasks from the development phase through production including electronic/electrical requirements definition, schematic and printed circuit board (PCB) design, documentation, prototype builds, and testing/validation.
  • Utilize existing design and documentation processes and standards as well as contribute to the maintenance and updating of such processes and standards with lessons learned or technically innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers such as engineering teammates, technicians, production facilities, and suppliers to support the design and manufacturing of assigned projects.
  • Should take ownership of deliverables and drive independently.
  • Contribute towards excellence in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and other team members.
  • Communication and collaboration with global team members for product development.

Experience

  • 3 to 7 years (5+ years preferred) of experience directly applicable engineering experience with a background in some/all of the following:
    • System Level Architecture Requirements and Design.
    • Component-level schematic design with consideration for electromagnetic compatibility and other system-level protections.
    • PCB specification and layout review. (Rigid, Flex, and Rigid-Flex Assemblies)
    • Electronic Hardware Validation & Verification
    • Cable design and specification.
    • Design for Functional Safety. (ISO 13849, ISO 25119, ISO 26262)
  • Must be self-driven with the ability to independently complete complex electronic/electrical designs.
  • Must have a hands-on attitude with the ability to use standard lab equipment such as soldering irons, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interfacing with a worldwide team of Sensata team members, suppliers, and customers.
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion to support key customer interface meetings or production facilities.
  • Optional but preferred: Altium Designer or similar Design Suite experience including schematic design, PCB design, technical definition, and documentation exporting.
  • Optional but preferred: Requirements management experience either manually through tools like Microsoft Excel or through a third-party requirements management system. (JAMA experience preferred)
  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results on time.
  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity.
  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering or another Electronics-based scientific degree or equivalent required.
