MKS Instruments is seeking a Senior Electronic Engineer to join the team. The primary role is to participate in new product introduction, design, qualification, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of power and analog electronics. Candidate will work with other engineers as part of a larger product development and sustaining engineering team.
Principal Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical engineering applications
- Determines design approaches and parameters
- Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
- May also review vendor capability to support product development
- Reports results and recommend appropriate engineering tradeoffs to optimize functional performance, reliability, and product cost
- Participates with board level design teams in the design of power and control circuits
- Participates in cross-functional project teams during design phase to achieve product design goals
- Lead in designing ECOs as needed to support new product development and sustaining engineering needs
- Supports products in volume manufacturing by hands-on troubleshooting of problems and failure analysis of returned units
- Travel Requirements: up to 15% of travel is required
Knowledge & Skills & Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering is required
- AND 5 years of experiences or equivalent combination of education
- Experience in design and debug of analog and power electronics
- Experience with using tools such as oscilloscopes, high voltage probes, power meters, etc. to successfully and independently test, troubleshoot and debug circuits
- Experience with resonant tank circuits, RF inverters, DC/DC converters, are all desirable
- Knowledge of electronics reliability validation and testing
