Chitkara University organized 5th edition of IEEE sponsored international conference on Wireless Networks and Embedded systems, popularly known as WECON 2016 from October 14-16, with international collaboration with Deakin University, Australia and industry support from Texas Instruments as Principal Patrons.
Other collaborations were EFY Magazine as media partner, MathWorks India, Secure Meters & Aricent India as exhibitors and DRDO, ISRO for financial aid. Over 300 delegates from 13 countries were a part of the grand opening ceremony of WECON 2016 on October 15. Dr. Trevor Day (Pro Vice Chancellor, Deakin University, Australia), Mr. S Vijay Anand (Technology Director, Aricent India) and Dr. Giriraj Nyati (COO, Secure Meters) gave a perfect kick start to the proceedings of the conference through their keynote addresses.
Dr. Trevor Day in his opening address talked about the need of industry – academia collaboration and shared perspective of Deakin University on the same. While, Mr Vijay Anand talked about one of the very popular technological domain these days – Internet of Things, Dr Giriraj Nyati focused his talk on the fact that India has got potential to become technological superpower of the world owing to a large number of engineering graduates passing out every year.
Total of 60 research papers were presented as a part of the conference in five parallel tracks Smart and Intelligent Electronics, Real Time Embedded Systems, Wireless Communication, Wireless Networks and Alternate Energy Based Electronic Systems.
Besides paper presentations by eminent researchers & scholars two Pre-conference faculty workshops on latest Texas Instruments Technologies were conducted and were attended by 40 faculty from 13 different engineering institutions. A panel discussion focusing on the theme ‘Commercialization of Research and Innovation : How globalization can help?” was also organized with eminent personalities from academia and industries on board.
All the papers presented in WECON 2016 will feature in IEEE Digital Library – IEEE Xplore.
Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University congratulated Dr. Archana Mantri and Mr Sagar Juneja , General chair and Convener of the conference respectively for success of the event. She further made a point that Chitkara University is committed to excel in the field of education and research for the overall benefit of upcoming generation of students and further affirmed that knowledge sharing is very important aspect for creation of a better society. Conferences like WECON prove to be a perfect platform for such knowledge sharing sessions.
