With features like low equivalent series resistance, overvoltage resistance, and extended service life, these capacitors are ideal for renewable energy systems, rolling stock, and industrial drives, ensuring efficient energy storage and transfer in critical applications.

TDK Corporation has recently unveiled a new series of EPCOS power capacitors designed explicitly for DC link applications. The capacitors, identified by the ordering code B25695E, are engineered to operate effectively at temperatures up to +105 °C, making them suitable for demanding environments. The capacitors are available in a range of rated DC voltages from 700 V to 1300 V, with voltage derating necessary for temperatures above +85 °C. They boast low equivalent series resistance (ESR) values ranging from 1.0 mΩ to 2.7 mΩ, enabling them to handle currents of up to 110 A at +70 °C, depending on the model.

The key features include:

  • Operating temperature up to +105 °C, ensuring reliability in high-temperature environments.
  • Low dissipation factor, enhancing efficiency.
  • Overvoltage resistant, capable of withstanding 130% of the rated voltage daily for 1 minute, providing an extra layer of safety and durability.
  • Capable of withstanding repetitive current peaks of up to 15.8 kA.
  • At the rated voltage and a temperature of +75 °C, the capacitors offer an extended service life of 120,000 hours, up to 35% longer than the standard version.

Constructed with durability, the capacitors feature cylindrical aluminium cases with 85 mm or 116 mm diameters and are topped with a synthetic resin lid. The metalised polypropylene film is encapsulated in a dry epoxy resin for added protection. The capacitors are also equipped with M6 screw terminals for secure electrical connections and an M12 threaded bolt on the bottom side for robust mechanical mounting. These capacitors are RoHS-compliant, ensuring they meet strict environmental standards. Their high performance and reliability make them ideal for various applications, including DC link circuits in converters used in renewable energy systems (such as photovoltaics and wind power), rolling stock (including trains, subways, and streetcars), and industrial drives.

The primary applications for these capacitors include DC links in various sectors, such as renewable energy systems like photovoltaics and wind power, rolling stock including trains, subways, streetcars, and industrial drives. These capacitors are designed to provide reliable and efficient energy storage and transfer in these critical applications, contributing to the smooth operation of these systems.
