Compact RF Analysers Bring Advanced Testing To Benches

Two lightweight RF instruments combine spectrum and network analysis with broad connectivity, targeting wireless development, EMC testing, research, servicing and antenna work in compact form.

Telonic has added two Rigol RF analysers, the RSA800 real-time spectrum analyser series and DINA800 vector network analyser series, to its UK offering. Both instruments use a 1.9kg chassis and are priced at £1,650, providing a portable alternative to larger benchtop equipment.

The instruments are designed for RF measurement applications including wireless communications development, RF design and validation, EMC pre-compliance testing, university teaching and research, field service, maintenance, and antenna and filter testing.

Both models provide 40MHz real-time bandwidth, full two-port vector network analyser measurement, SCPI remote control and USB-C power delivery. A 7-inch multi-touch display supports direct trace and marker manipulation, while USB, LAN and HDMI interfaces provide options for data transfer, remote access and external displays.

The RSA800 covers frequencies from 5kHz to 14GHz. It combines swept spectrum analysis with real-time spectrum analysis, while optional functions include vector signal analysis, analogue demodulation and EMI pre-compliance testing. The analyser has a typical displayed average noise level of -168dBm and includes a tracking generator as standard, allowing filter, antenna and cable measurements without a separate source.

The DINA800 provides true two-port vector network analysis in the same portable format, with full S11, S12, S21 and S22 coverage. It is intended for filter and antenna characterisation and PCB impedance work, offering dynamic range of up to 125dB and trace noise as low as 0.005dB RMS. Optional distance-to-fault capability and time-domain reflectometry analysis are also supported.

Both analysers include SCPI compatibility for integration into automated test sequences and scripted measurements. Their compact design and USB-C power input are intended to make RF measurement more practical where portability and bench space are important considerations.
