A new way to build your own DC power supply with more control over design choices and how the system is put together.

RECOM has introduced a range of Power ICs and SMD transformers for building discrete isolated DC/DC power supplies. The lineup supports flyback, push-pull, and full-bridge designs across a power range from 1W to 30W. These sub-miniature SMD transformers cover common input and output voltage combinations and provide isolation to withstand voltages up to 5000VAC/min. They can handle peak reflow temperatures of up to 250°C for 10 seconds and support two reflow cycles.
The range is split across different transformer series for specific topologies. The RMR-xxx series includes 1W and 2W toroidal SMD transformers designed for push-pull and full-bridge drivers, with isolation voltages from 1.5kVDC/min to 4.5kVDC/min. Two variants, RMR-028 and RMR-031, offer higher isolation at 5kVAC/min (7000kVDC/min) along with wider creepage and clearance. These are designed to match RECOM’s RVP-xxx push-pull and full-bridge transformer drivers.
For flyback designs, the RBE-xxx series covers 6W to 30W bobbin-type SMD transformers, with isolation voltages ranging from 1.5kVDC/min to 6kVDC/min or 4.5kVAC/min. These are matched with the RVPW-xxx flyback transformer drivers. The RPE-021 is another bobbin-type SMD transformer with 6000VDC/min isolation and wider creepage and clearance. The RPE-026 targets bidirectional battery cell charging and discharging and is designed to work with the RPSV013 bidirectional PWM controller and synchronous rectifier IC.
“For over 50 years, RECOM has been a technology leader in DC/DC modules, a position only maintained by a constant flow of new ideas and continual improvements in quality, reliability and performance. Now, for the first time, RECOM is offering you both IC discrete solutions as well as complete DC/DC modules. There is no need for compromise any more. You can choose a discrete driver IC + transformer component solution where you decide the layout and component positioning, and where you also benefit from lower pricing as the volume increases – just like any other SMD component.” comments Sven Krumpel, Project Manager IC & Solutions, RECOM.
