STMicroelectronics revealed VNF1048F, an automotive high-side switch controller that integrates advanced system protection and diagnostic features with ST’s I2-t silicon-fuse technology.

STMicroelectronics VNF1048F integrated with ST’s I2-t silicon-fuse technology provides enhanced system protection and diagnostic features. The VNF1048F is compatible with 12V, 24V, and 48V automotive power subsystems (board nets) due to integration with I2-t protection. It consists of a serial peripheral interface (SPI) to enable the host microcontroller to support monitor system protection and diagnostic features. It also provides thermal protection for external high-side MOSFET, desaturation shutdown, and I2-t fuse settings including under-voltage and over-temperature protection. The switch has built-in High-precision digital current sensing.

The ST I2 fuse enables monitoring, control, and digital interface capabilities to allow automotive systems to comply with ISO26262 and related Safety Integrity Levels (SIL). The integration of I2-t protection with a digital interface enhances its efficiency and reliability in automotive zonal electronic/electrical (E/E) architectures. It assists in greater electrification and supplementary functions of smart driving.
