3D Depth Sensing Camera Suitable For Indoor And Outdoor Applications

e-con Systems has released DepthVista MIPI IRD, a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) camera for NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin / AGX Xavier. The camera has a scalable depth range of up to 12m with an accuracy of over 99%. The camera features a wide spectral range which makes it suitable for both outdoor and indoor embedded vision systems. Moreover, the camera can avoid complications like running depth-matching algorithms on the host platform. The DepthVista MIPI IRD camera will enable designers to create a robust depth-sensing camera that can be used in harsh outdoor environments. The camera can be used in applications such as autonomous self-navigating delivery bots, robo vacuum cleaners, etc.

“Last year, we launched a 3D USB camera solution powered by ToF technology, specifically designed for applications that operate in indoor environments. We have since received several requests for a 3D depth camera suitable for outdoor environments that can also work with the NVIDIA Jetson processor family through a MIPI-CSI2 interface. So, we are now launching DepthVista_MIPI_IRD, a ToF MIPI camera, for NVIDIA Jetson platforms. It is perfect for indoor and outdoor embedded vision applications.”, said Gomathi Sankar, Business Unit Head- Industrial at e-con Systems.

A 3D ToF (Time of Flight) depth vision sensor is a type of camera that uses infrared light to measure the distance between the sensor and objects in its field of view. It works by emitting a pulse of light and measuring the time it takes for the light to bounce back off an object and return to the sensor.
