Designed for applications like battery management and heated seats, these high-precision amplifiers offer versatile voltage gain options, rapid response times, and seamless operation across an extended temperature range.

Precision Current Shunt Monitors For Automotive

Diodes Incorporated has unveiled the ZXCT18xQ series, a new line of automotive-compliant high-precision current shunt monitors. These advanced single-stage instrumentation amplifiers accurately measure minute sense voltages across an extensive range of common-mode voltages. Designed for automotive systems, these monitors are ideal for ambient lighting control, battery management, heated seats, and other body control functions.

The key specifications are:

  • Wide Common-Mode Voltage Range: Operates with common-mode voltages up to 26V.
  • Flexible Power Supply: Powered by a 2.7V to 5.5V supply.
  • Multiple Gain Options: This product offers fixed voltage gain options of 20V/V, 50V/V, 100V/V, and 200V/V.
  • High Bandwidth: Small-signal bandwidth up to 400kHz at 20V/V gain.
  • Fast Slew Rate: Achieves a rapid slew rate of 2V/µs.
  • Broad Temperature Range: Functions reliably in temperatures from -40°C to +125°C.

The series includes the ZXCT180Q for unidirectional current measurement and the ZXCT181Q for bidirectional sensing. For design flexibility, the ZXCT180Q is available in two configurations (A and B) with distinct OUT-pin placements. The ZXCT181Q supports bidirectional sensing by introducing a voltage offset to its REF-pin, while for unidirectional measurement, the REF-pin is grounded.

With four fixed voltage gain options, the series provides exceptional versatility. These monitors operate across common-mode voltages from -0.3V to 26V, independent of supply voltage, with a maximum supply current of just 370µA. Featuring a small signal bandwidth and a fast slew rate , the series ensures rapid detection of current changes and delivers swift output responses, making it ideal for systems requiring quick fault detection.

The introduction of the ZXCT18xQ series expands the company’s 26V power rail current monitoring portfolio, complementing earlier releases such as the ZXCT199Q and ZXCT21xQ series. These new monitors are optimized for precise high- and low-side current sensing, with support for sense voltages as low as 10mV. Pricing starts at $0.11 (ZXCT180Q) and $0.12 (ZXCT181Q) for 1,000-piece quantities, available in SOT25 and SOT26 packages. Industrial and commercial versions, ZXCT180 and ZXCT181, are also available.
