The future of street lighting offers solar drivers with settings for energy efficiency and remote monitoring capabilities for advanced control.

Light drivers

Macon has launched two innovative solar street light drivers: McUD85, suitable for 12-25W LEDs and a 12V/125 Wp solar panel, and McUD173, designed for 30-50W LEDs with a 12V/250Wp solar panel. The company claims that the drivers feature customizable settings for load wattages, timing, dimming, and selection of battery types. Users can easily adjust these settings using selection pins on the device, enhancing its versatility and reducing inventory requirements for manufacturers. The drivers also allow post-installation adjustments on-site and support PIR motion sensors.  A battery management system (BMS) wake function is also included if the BMS disconnects.

Both models include a data output port for remote monitoring. The McUD173 further boasts an independent secondary load output, suitable for powering additional devices such as CCTV cameras or blinkers, using the same solar light system, thereby saving costs. Customization options extend to load wattages, timers, and dimming settings to meet specific customer needs. These drivers have high-quality components and a protective conformal coating for extended durability. They are certified according to IEC 62093, ensuring compliance with global quality standards.

The target audience includes street light manufacturers and distributors who benefit from the product’s versatility and reduced inventory requirements, as well as municipal and local governments interested in upgrading to energy-efficient street lighting solutions. Commercial property owners and developers also represent a significant segment attracted by the drivers’ energy efficiency and customization options. Solar energy system integrators and installers also find these drivers compatible and functional for various installations. Security and safety companies can leverage the drivers’ ability to connect to additional loads, such as CCTV cameras, enhancing their systems. Lastly, environmental and energy conservation advocates looking to promote sustainability will appreciate these high-quality, certified products that align with global standards.
