The DC converters meet electric vehicle needs with wide input range, robust protection, and high efficiency, perfect for demanding applications.

DC power converters

In response to the increasing demand for cost-effective DC/DC conversion in electric vehicle applications, RECOM have introduced their latest offerings, the RMOD300-UW and RMOD360UW products. These boast an ultra-wide input range of 18 to 106VDC (with a surge tolerance of 126VDC for 10 minutes), catering to typical nominal battery input voltages ranging from 24Vnom to 90 Vnom. The RMOD300-UW, rated at 300W, provides output voltages of 12.2VDC, 13.7VDC, or 24.5VDC, while the RMOD360-UW, with a rating of 360W, delivers 24.5VDC.

Designed in an aluminum baseplate cooled format, these components feature a compact footprint of 190 x 76mm and a low height of 44mm. They are equipped with MOLEXTM connectors for convenient input and output connections. The robust polycarbonate housing ensures waterproof and dust-proof properties, achieving IP67 sealing for electronic components and IP20 for the overall product (optionally IP67 for select models with alternative connectors), suitable for pollution degree 2 (PD2) environments up to 5000m altitude.

The products offer comprehensive protection features, including input reverse polarity protection, under-voltage lockout, over-temperature protection, output over-voltage protection, over-current protection, and short-circuit protection. Furthermore, units with the same output voltage can be paralleled for increased power, and an ON/OFF control feature is integrated. Achieving high efficiency levels of approximately 90%, these compact DC/DC converters can operate within an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +75°C with derating. They are qualified for shock and vibration according to IEC 60068-2 and boast an impressive MTBF of up to 740kHrs.

“Our new RMOD DC/DCs with 300 and 360W ratings are an ideal, robust solution for E-mobility and transport applications where their plug-and-play features make them easy to integrate, and to provide stable 12V or 24V network voltages electric vehicles, forklift trucks, AGVs and construction vehicles from the widely varying or higher voltage traction battery and where the environment can be harsh”, commented Marco Kuhn Plug & Play product manager.
