Neurologyca, a company in human-centric artificial intelligence, announces the launch of Kopernica, an AI platform that uses “multi-modal” inputs—a combination of real-time cognitive, vocal, and behavioral data—to enable AI applications to “understand” human emotions. Using a combination of technologies, the platform can detect and measure facial expressions, behaviors, mental states, markers for stress and anxiety, and the risk of medical events such as strokes.

Potential use cases for the platform, which includes “edge-ready” architecture for easy integration, include wellness apps that monitor emotional and mental health signals, crowd sentiment analysis in busy places like stadiums, and early indicators to support detection of medical conditions such as stroke risk.

Kopernica is an AI platform designed to capture emotional intelligence from humans and could change large language models like ChatGPT to make them “emotionally aware” and able to respond to human behaviors and feelings. The technology has been tested and deployed in partner projects and will now be released as a platform for developer integrations, mobile ecosystems, agentic platforms, and chip-level intelligence. A standalone app will also be made available after the launch.

Kopernica differs from other emotion-based AI solutions by using “multi-modal” inputs like vocal tone and micro-facial expressions. It can create and assign personality traits to identify attitudes and tendencies. This lets the platform interpret states such as cognitive load, motivation, attention, fatigue, and stress. By adding a “human context” layer, Kopernica goes beyond the pattern-matching limits of traditional large language models to provide real-time empathic insights, respond to human needs, and offer a model for human-machine collaboration.

The Kopernica platform follows Neurologyca’s “privacy by design” approach, processing data locally on devices and generating anonymized insights without storing or sharing user data unless users give consent.

“Today’s AI systems understand what we say, but they can’t understand how we feel,” said Juan Graña, Co-founder and CEO of Neurologyca. “With Kopernica, we’ve created the human context layer that will empower these systems to not only capture nuanced human emotions, but respond with empathy, adapt their behavior, and genuinely enhance the human-machine relationship.”
