New Handheld Vector Network Analyser To Measure RF Components

The analyser is user-friendly, easy to configure and has a compact fanless housing for field and lab applications

Enabling timely detection and rectification of defective RF cables and communications system components is the new ZNH handheld vector network analyser that allows field engineers to maintain and swiftly restore radar and satellite systems.

Characterising components up to 26.5 GHz in the field and lab, the analyser facilitates functions such as cable and antenna measurements and full 2-port S-parameter measurements. It also has a built-in receiver step attenuator at both ports for overloading protection.

The ZNH four-receiver architecture supports unknown through, open, short and match (UOSM) calibrations. Other features that make the ZNH ideal for installation and maintenance of RF communications systems and characterisation of RF components include:

  • Low trace noise(0,0025 dB RMS)
  • 100 dB dynamic range
  • 0 dBm typical maximum output power
  • 16,001 measurement points
  • Availability of power meter, pulse measurement, wave ratio and wave quantities

The options are provided using a software keycode.

Weighing just 3 kg, the ZNH has a small form factor, fanless design, long battery life and widely spaced large keys for comfortable operation with gloves, making it convenient for work in the field. The 17.7 cm (7 inches) multi-touch display uses smart touch gestures for simple and user-friendly operation. Novice users can operate the analyser with no previous training. The wizard function enables pre-configuration of test sequences, reducing on-site errors. Free InstrumentView and MobileView software allow measured data to be forwarded straight from the field to the lab for parallel analysis.

Useful for R&D labs, production lines and universities with limited space and budgets, the analyser can also measure RF components in production environments such as filters, amplifiers, cables, connectors and antennas.

The handheld vector network analyser ZNH is now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
