GNSS Positioning Solution Without A Base Station

Polaris is a correction network enabling precise GPS and computer vision-based localization, with customizable performance and pricing options to suit individual application needs.

GNSS Positioning Solution Without A Base Station

Point One Navigation, a company offering Precise Location as a Service (PLaaS) solutions for autonomous vehicles and Septentrio, a leader in high-precision Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), have launched Polaris. The company claims that Polaris is a cutting-edge correction network that empowers accurate Global Positioning System (GPS) and computer vision-based localization with customizable performance options for various applications. By seamlessly integrating with Septentrio Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) receivers, Polaris enables rapid attainment of centimetre-level accuracy. Septentrio and Point One offer developer compatibility for demanding applications like industrial autonomy, precision agriculture, logistics, and autonomous vehicles.

The company claims that its coverage of Polaris has been expanded to encompass Western Europe, broadening the network’s geographical reach and capabilities. Point One’s FusionEngine software enhances this technology by seamlessly integrating cameras and extra sensors, ensuring the desired precision level is achieved, even when satellite signals are unavailable. Septentrio incorporates Advanced Interference Mitigation (AIM+) technology into all their GNSS receivers and modules, offering the most advanced commercially available onboard interference mitigation. With this technology, Septentrio GNSS receivers can effectively suppress a wide range of interferers, including simple continuous narrowband signals and complex wideband and pulsed jammers.

“We have chosen to work with Septentrio to power our solutions for both the correction network and our FusionEngine reference design because of the excellent quality, robustness and jamming and spoofing resilience of their GNSS receiver technology”, says Aaron Nathan, CEO & Co-founder of Point One Navigation. “We have worked with them extensively in the autonomous vehicle space, and their GNSS technology, combined with excellent application support, has been integral to our success.”
