Nuvoton Technology has introduced the NuMicro MG51 series, enhanced 1T-8051-based microcontrollers designed for numerous applications. The microcontroller series developed are proving efficient in their use in various industrial applications, automation, motor and device control applications, LED dimming, energy optimisation, and smart appliances opening ways to more conscious choices and sustainability options.
Built around a 1T-8051 core running up to 24 MHz, the MG51 offers up to 64 KB flash memory, 4 KB SRAM, and 4 KB LDROM.It supports 2.4V–5.5V operation and an industrial temperature range from -40°C to +105°C. High noise immunity is achievable with 7 kV ESD (HBM) and 4.4 kV EFT protection.
Up to 46 GPIOs are available, depending on the package, with flexible interrupt configuration. The microcontroller supports 24 interrupt sources and a four-level priority scheme for responsive event handling. The microcontrollers are available in multiple packaging and multi-compatibility options.
The device integrates up to 12 PWM channels for small motor applications and a 15-channel, 12-bit ADC with 500 kSPS sampling for real-time sensing. It provides four 16-bit timers and up to five UARTs, two of which feature automatic address recognition and error detection. Three UARTs also comply with ISO 7816-3. Additional interfaces include one SPI and one I²C.
Chip security features provided by the series include flash lock bits, a 128-byte executable-only SPROM for secure code. The SPROM cannot be accessed for data code or read, while in non-security mode, it can be used as data flash. An inbuilt 96-bit Unique ID (UID) and a customizable 128-bit Unique Customer ID (UCID).
