As smartphones integrate advanced imaging, on-device AI processing, and high performance gaming, mobile chipsets are required to handle higher data throughput, faster storage access and sustained compute workloads within limited power budgets. Conventional processor designs increasingly face constraints when balancing performance, efficiency and real time AI processing, particularly in flagship class devices.
Addressing these requirements, MediaTek showcased its latest Dimensity system on chip. The Dimensity 9500 is based on a third generation All Big Core CPU architecture and integrates a combination of ultra, premium and performance cores to support sustained high load operation.
The chipset also includes a Mali G1 Ultra GPU and the Imagiq 1190 image signal processor, claiming to enable advanced camera and imaging workloads. Support for four channel UFS 4.1 storage is included to improve data access speeds for AI, imaging and gaming tasks. The company also highlighted devices using other Dimensity platforms, including smartphones from the OPPO Find X9 and vivo X300 series, demonstrating the deployment of these chipsets in commercial flagship devices.
From a technical perspective, the chipset is designed to support on-device AI processing, real time imaging and graphics intensive applications while managing power efficiency. These capabilities are increasingly relevant as smartphone features rely more heavily on local compute rather than cloud based processing.
