High Density Power Supplies For Industrial Control

By combining high power density in a small enclosure, the series solves problems faced by many designers of the modern industrial system where space, efficiency, and reliability remain critical.

Industrial control systems increasingly require higher power density within limited cabinet space while maintaining reliable operation in harsh conditions. Applications such as automation, energy distribution, and infrastructure demand power supplies that can deliver stable output across wide temperature ranges, handle surge loads, and meet strict safety and electromagnetic compliance standards without adding cooling complexity.

RECOM has introduced the RACPRO1 S240E series, a DIN Rail mounted AC DC power supply designed to deliver high output power in a compact form factor for industrial environments. The new series targets space and cost sensitive installations that require consistent performance under demanding thermal and electrical conditions.

The power supply delivers up to 240W of output using natural convection cooling across a wide operating temperature range. It supports common industrial output voltages and can tolerate voltage fed back from inductive or motor driven loads, helping protect connected equipment. The design also accommodates short duration surge power, allowing systems to manage brief peak loads without oversizing the power unit. A selectable single phase input range enables operation across global mains voltages, while integrated inrush current control supports stable startup behavior.

Key features of series include:

  • 240W continuous output in a compact DIN Rail format
  • Operation from minus 40°C to plus 60°C with convection cooling
  • Short term surge capability for peak load handling
  • Adjustable DC outputs for common industrial voltages
  • High immunity to back feeding from inductive loads
  • Active inrush current control for AC input
  • High efficiency operation with low no load power consumption
  • Compliance with global safety and EMC standards

Michael Peters, Business and Product Manager at the company, says, “Our new 240W DIN Rail series is designed for demanding, space and cost sensitive applications such as factory and building automation, energy distribution, test and measurement, infrastructure, data telecom and more.”
