The role focuses on developing scalable, high‑efficiency power platforms for data centers and hyperscale infrastructure, leveraging advanced converter topologies, wide‑bandgap devices, and digital/analog control techniques.
The position is based within a global MNC R&D environment, offering exposure to industry‑leading power technologies and internationally coordinated development programs.
Key Responsibilities
UPS & System‑Level Contributions
- Design and validate UPS subsystems such as rectifier modules, inverter stages, DC buses, and energy storage interfaces.
- Support integration of power shelves within larger UPS or distributed power systems.
- Contribute to system‑level efficiency, reliability, and availability targets.
Power Shelf, OCP & ORV Architecture
- Design and develop power shelf and modular power conversion units aligned with OCP (Open Compute Project) and ORV (Open Rack Version) specifications.
- Contribute to 48V/400V/800V‑based power architectures, including AC‑DC rectifiers, DC‑DC bus converters, and point‑of‑load solutions.
- Support scalable, redundant, hot‑swappable designs for hyperscale and data center deployments.
- Ensure interoperability with OCP‑compliant racks, shelves, and system interfaces.
Power Converter Design & Technology
- Design and develop DC‑DC converters, including:
- LLC and other resonant converter topologies
- Phase‑shifted full bridge and high‑frequency isolated converters
- Perform topology trade‑offs, loss modeling, derating, and thermal analysis.
- Design and validate high‑frequency magnetics optimized for power density and efficiency.
Semiconductor & Control Engineering
- Apply wide‑bandgap devices (GaN, SiC) to achieve high efficiency and compact designs.
- Design and tune analog and/or digital control loops, including:
- Voltage/current mode control
- Resonant converter control strategies
- DSP or microcontroller‑based control implementations
Validation, Compliance & Lifecycle
- Perform simulation and modeling using tools such as PLECS, PSIM, LTspice, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Lead prototype bring‑up, debugging, and design verification testing (DVT).
- Support EMI/EMC, safety, and regulatory compliance (IEC, UL, OCP requirements).
- Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, NPI gating, and engineering documentation.
- Provide manufacturing and field support, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant industry experience in power electronics product development.
- Strong fundamentals in:
- Power conversion (AC‑DC, DC‑DC, resonant, inverter stages)
- Power devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs, GaN/SiC preferred)
- Control systems, magnetics, and thermal management
- Hands‑on experience with power electronics lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads).
