Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities
- Exposure to hardware development processes for industrial or power electronics products.
- Perform technical feasibility studies and support hardware architecture/design activities for power electronics products.
- Design, develop, test, and validate power electronics hardware circuits and subsystems.
- Work on schematic design, component selection, PCB review, and hardware integration for power electronics applications.
- Use ECAD tools, especially Altium, for schematic capture and PCB design support.
- Perform simulation and analysis of power electronics circuits and subsystems using tools such as PSIM and OrCAD.
- Support design and development of hardware for Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), power converters, and motor control products.
- Participate in prototype bring-up, debugging, design verification, and validation testing.
- Conduct engineering analysis to evaluate product concepts, design performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, test, and system engineering teams for product development and integration.
- Participate in FMEA, risk assessment, and design review activities.
- Generate and maintain design documents, test reports, verification records, and engineering change documentation.
- Interface as needed with product management, manufacturing, quality, customers, marketing, and sales in providing technical guidance on developed products.
- Be proactive in understanding product/service roadmaps and the implications of new features with peer engineers or self-training.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC, thermal considerations, safety, and reliability requirements for power electronics designs.
- Familiarity with product development lifecycle and engineering release processes.
- Exposure to collaboration with firmware/software teams in embedded power electronics systems.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification
- 4-Year bachelor’s degree / 4 + 2-Year Master’s degree in Power electronics/ Electrical / Electronics
- 0–1 years of experience in power electronics hardware design and development.
- Hands-on experience in hardware design and development for power electronics products such as power converters, inverters, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
- Proficiency in ECAD tools, especially Altium.
- Experience with simulation and design tools such as PSIM and OrCAD.
- Good understanding of analog and digital circuits, gate drive circuits, magnetics, power stages, protection circuits, and control hardware.
- Experience in schematic design, PCB layout review, hardware debugging, and validation testing.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscope, function generator, multimeter, power analyzer, etc. The current JD already includes lab equipment experience expectations.
- Knowledge of motor control and power conversion systems is preferred.
- Experience in design, test, and verification documentation. The current JD also expects experience generating design, test, and verification documents.
- Good problem-solving, testing, and debugging skills.
- Able to work in multi-disciplinary and remote-located teams.
