The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in designing rugged, mission-critical hardware systems with strict adherence to military standards (MIL-STD). This role demands technical excellence, attention to quality and compliance, and an ability to lead hardware development from concept through deployment in high-reliability environments.
Job Role and Responsibilities
- Design and develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal hardware for defence and aerospace platforms, including signal conditioning, sensor interfaces, power management, and EMI/EMC-compliant circuits for stringent working environment.
- Possess strong analog fundamentals with hands-on experience in LTSpice and other circuit simulation tools.
- Design and develop digital boards using STM, PIC, TI microcontrollers/microprocessors, and FPGAs.
- Possess knowledge on communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, Ethernet, EEPROMs, LVDS, HDMI, USB, ARINC 429, and MIL-STD-1553.
- Demonstrate working-level knowledge of DDR3/DDR4, clock timing, high-speed interfaces, thermal design, DRC checks, MTBF, and MTTR analysis.
- Validate and review PCB designs created by PCB layout engineers.
- Perform testing and debugging using JTAG and hardware debuggers.
- Operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analysers.
- Be proficient in tools such as Tera Term and Wireshark.
- Select military-grade components and ensure robustness under extreme environmental conditions (temperature, vibration, altitude, etc.).
- Perform board bring-up, debugging, and system integration.
- Lead schematic design, PCB layout reviews, and component selection aligned with system-level architecture and signal integrity requirements.
- Prepare, review, and maintain hardware documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and qualification reports.
- Conduct design validation and qualification in accordance with MIL-STD-461E, MIL-STD-810G, RCMA, and other applicable aerospace/defence standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and QA teams to ensure manufacturability, testability, and seamless system integration.
- Perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot lab and field issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide technical support for bids, proposals, and customer presentations with emphasis on compliance, performance, and reliability.
