New Platform Advances Synchronisation Management

A next-generation timing management platform introduces enhanced automation, GNSS monitoring and high-accuracy time transfer capabilities to help operators maintain precise synchronisation across increasingly complex infrastructure deployments.

New Platform Advances Synchronisation Management

Operators of critical infrastructure networks are gaining access to a new synchronisation management platform designed to improve visibility, automation and control across large-scale timing architectures. The latest TimePictra 12  software release by Microchip Technology introduces support for advanced timing technologies, expanded network capacity and a redesigned interface aimed at simplifying the management of distributed synchronisation systems.

The platform is intended for sectors where precise timing is essential, including telecommunications, power utilities, transportation, data centres and AI infrastructure. As these networks become more distributed and less reliant on satellite-based timing alone, operators are increasingly adopting resilient synchronisation architectures that require centralised monitoring and management.

One of the key additions is support for High-Accuracy Time Transfer (HA-TT) connections, enabling more precise timing distribution across network elements. The software also incorporates GNSS observability monitoring capabilities that provide greater insight into satellite signal conditions, helping operators detect anomalies and strengthen timing resiliency in environments where timing integrity is critical.

The key features are:

  • Supports High-Accuracy Time Transfer (HA-TT) management
  • Centralised GNSS observability monitoring and threat detection
  • Maintains dispersed clock alignment across distributed networks
  • Redesigned GUI with enhanced automation capabilities
  • Scales to manage up to 5,000 synchronisation elements

The platform further supports clock alignment technologies designed to maintain synchronisation accuracy across geographically dispersed infrastructure. This capability becomes increasingly important as operators deploy larger networks that depend on tight phase and frequency alignment for reliable performance.

A redesigned graphical user interface offers improved visualization of network relationships and synchronization status, making it easier to identify issues and manage complex timing environments. Enhanced automation features are also intended to reduce operational workload during deployment, upgrades and routine maintenance activities.

Scalability has been significantly increased, with support for up to 5,000 managed elements—more than double the capacity of previous versions. The expanded scale targets large telecom, utility, transportation and data centre deployments where centralised synchronisation management is becoming increasingly important.

The software is compatible with a broad range of timing and synchronisation products, enabling centralised monitoring, configuration and management across critical infrastructure environments. The latest release is available both as a new deployment and as an upgrade for existing users.
