GigaDevice Launches First GD24CL Series I²C EEPROM, Further Expanding Its Non-Volatile Memory Portfolio

GigaDevice has launched the GD24CL series I²C EEPROM, expanding its non-volatile memory portfolio with a storage solution designed for industrial, energy, IoT, data centre, and networking applications. The new EEPROM series is built to provide reliable long-term storage for configuration and system data while adding hardware-based security and low-power operation.

The GD24CL series offers up to 4 million program/erase cycles and 100-year data retention. It also includes built-in Error Correction Code (ECC) to improve data integrity and reliability. The devices operate across a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, making them suitable for industrial environments.

The EEPROM supports I²C clock frequencies of 100kHz, 400kHz, and 1MHz, allowing it to work with both low-speed sensing systems and high-speed industrial controllers. It also supports byte-level random read and write operations, enabling efficient updates of small amounts of data.

To improve data security, the series includes a Write Protect (WP) pin that prevents unintended write operations caused by software errors or system faults. It also features a lockable Security Page, allowing critical data to be permanently protected from modification.

The devices support an operating voltage range of 1.7V to 5.5V while keeping power consumption low. Standby current is as low as 1µA, read current is 1mA, and write current is 1.5mA, making the series suitable for power-sensitive applications such as industrial IoT devices and data centres.

To support compact PCB designs, the GD24CL series is available in SOP8 150 mil, TSSOP8 173 mil, and UDFN8 2×3 mm packages.

The EEPROM family will be offered in capacities ranging from 32Kb to 1Mb. The GD24CL256B (256Kb) is the first device available for sampling, while 128Kb and 512Kb versions are planned for release in the first half of next year.
