Yokogawa Test & Measurement has launched the WT1500 Precision Power Analyzer, expanding its WT series of power measurement instruments for electric vehicle (xEV) powertrains and renewable energy systems. Scheduled for release on August 19, the WT1500 introduces direct 2000 V DC input capability for the first time in the series, along with improved measurement accuracy, resolver signal support, IEEE 1588 synchronization, and a compact 2U rack-mount design.

The analyzer is designed for testing high-voltage equipment used in EVs, energy storage systems (ESS), and power conversion systems (PCS). It eliminates the need for external high-voltage dividers for measurements up to 2000 V DC, reducing test complexity and improving accuracy. It also combines power and resolver signal measurements in a single instrument.

Some of the key features of the WT1500 Precision Power Analyzer include:

  • Total power accuracy of ±0.038% for DC and 50/60 Hz measurements.
  • Low-power-factor accuracy of ±0.07% of apparent power at 50/60 Hz.
  • Direct measurement of up to 2000 V DC with 300 kHz bandwidth.
  • Supports up to 1000 V measurements with 2 MHz bandwidth.
  • Supports IEEE 1588 time synchronization.
  • Outputs data through CAN, CAN FD, and UDP.
  • Allows remote operation from a PC, monitor, or tablet.
  • Includes a compact front-panel interface for setup.
  • Features a space-saving 2U rack-mount design.

For applications requiring additional channels, up to five WT1500 units can be synchronized to provide as many as 20 power measurement channels, with one unit acting as the controller for data collection and system management. 

The analyzer also includes four current input terminals that power connected current sensors. With new current adapters, it supports CT Series penetration-type sensors rated from 60 A to 2000 A AC/DC, CT1000S split-core sensors rated at 1000 A AC/DC, and AC current clamp probes rated at 50 A and 200 A. The new current adapters will begin rolling out from August 19 through 2026.

The WT1500 is intended for automotive, power, and renewable energy applications, including testing EV powertrains, e-Axle systems, inverters, ESS, and PCS. It supports four-channel measurements for both single-phase and three-phase systems.
