Compact Edge AI Targets Visual Computing

A new compact edge computing platform brings AI acceleration, advanced visual processing and flexible connectivity to industrial systems, supporting smarter applications in space-constrained environments.

Compact Edge AI

IBASE Technology has introduced the AA400-N, an ultra-compact fanless edge AI computer built around AMD Ryzen Embedded 8000 Series processors, delivering up to 39 TOPS of AI performance for applications including machine vision, smart retail and industrial automation. It combines CPU, GPU and NPU processing resources in a single embedded platform, enabling AI inference and visual computing workloads to run closer to where data is generated. AMD Ryzen Embedded 8000 Series processors provide up to eight CPU cores and 16 threads, while the integrated AI acceleration architecture is designed to handle increasingly demanding edge workloads without relying entirely on cloud-based processing.

The key features are:

  • Up to 39 TOPS integrated AI performance
  • 8-core, 16-thread embedded processing
  • 8K output through DP 2.1 and HDMI 2.1
  • Up to 256GB DDR5-5600 memory capacity
  • 2.5GbE and PCIe Gen4 NVMe connectivity

Visual computing is another major focus of the system. AMD RDNA 3 graphics support DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 interfaces, enabling display resolutions of up to 8K. This makes the platform suitable for applications requiring high-resolution visualization, multiple display interfaces or locally processed image and video data.

Despite its processing capability, it measures 216 × 178 × 55 mm and uses a fanless design, allowing it to be integrated into equipment where space is limited and mechanical simplicity is important. DIN-rail and wall-mount options further extend its suitability for industrial installations and embedded systems. The platform also provides substantial memory and expansion capability. Dual-channel DDR5-5600 memory supports capacities of up to 256GB, while PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe storage provides high-speed local data access. M.2 expansion slots can be configured for cellular connectivity, wireless communications or capture hardware, allowing system designers to adapt the computer to different deployment requirements.

With integrated networking, peripheral interfaces and support for both Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04,it is positioned as a compact computing platform for edge systems that need AI acceleration, high-resolution graphics and flexible connectivity in a small industrial form factor.
